Dance/Movement Therapy Theory and Practice; Theoretical Origins, Foundations and Principles 6 day intensive course (45 hours, 3 ADTA credits) To be announced February 2026. 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM Pacific Time Online Synchronous Study via Zoom Through experiential exercises, readings nd discussions, participants will study the rich professional field of dance/movement therapy. Students will examine the foundational tenets of defining DMT as a creative.expressive, healing and integrative process. Discussions will focus on the history and theoretical originis of DMT in Western culture, emphasizing the methods of DMT pioneers. From an anthropological perspective, participants will explore therapeutic elements in dances from world cultures. Experiences will delve into the world of communicative and expressive movement and DMT treatment for specific populations including children, higher functioning adults, elders and hospitalized psychiatric patients. "This course has been approved by the ADTA as meeting requirements for the Alternate Route (R-DMT) credential." A phone interview is required for new Institute members to register for this course.
