Dance/Movement Therapy for Prevention, Treatment, Aftercare and Self Care Jan. 17,18,19 and Jan. 24, 2025 9:30- 6:00 Pacific Time Online Synchronous Study via Zoom Must be taken with Part B: Advanced Clinical Skills This experiential course will explore dance/movement therapy and its innovative applications to prevention, treatment, after care and self-care. Evan’s methods for the higher functioning client and Bernstein’s Empowerment-Focused approach will be highlighted. Participants will hone their skills in assessment, formulating objectives, leadership, building the therapy relationship and session development. We will view dance/movement therapy through an ethical and cultural lens including sensitivity to issues of race/culture/gender identity and anti-racism. We will explore preventive dance/movement therapy for health and well being, highlighting Evan’s therapeutic creative dance and Bernstein’s uses of imagery and metaphor for expanding self-expression; Evan’s “Functional Technique” and Bernstein’s Empowerment-Focused dance/movement therapy for safe and effective treatment including as an adjunct therapy in the context of healthcare; the needs for elders requiring aftercare and the challenges of caregivers; methods of dance/movement therapy for self-care. “This course has been approved by the ADTA as meeting requirements toward the Alternate Route R-DMT.” Cost: $1,100 for sections A and B (45 hrs) FOR MORE INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION CONTACT: Bonnie Bernstein at bon4dance@gmail.com.
