Dance/Movement Therapy for Children and Adolescents: In the Methods of Blanche Evan 6 day intensive course (3 ADTA credits - 45 hours) June 6, 7, 8 and June 13, 14, 15, 2025. 9:30 AM-6 PM PT Online Synchronous Study via Zoom This experiential and didactic theories and practice course, appropriate for all levels of students, delves into Blanche Evan’s dance/movement therapy method for typically developing children in non-psychiatric settings. The course emphasizes Evan’s philosophy and methods for supporting children’s healthy growth and development and her dance/movement therapy method for working with children facing challenges to their emotional health and social development. This course highlights dance approaches for expanding expressive freedom, working through emotional challenges and building resiliency. Participants will explore Evan’s approach to developmentally-based dance education as an integral part of dance/movement therapy for children. With sensitivity to issues of inclusion, diversity and race/culture/gender identity, participants will hone their skills in clarifying therapy goals, shaping session development and strengthening group leadership skills for facilitating dance/movement therapy with children.
